Megan and Hunter’s Waterfall Wedding at The Falls at Blue Ridge
The morning started quietly.
At the cabin, Megan was surrounded by her bridesmaids, getting ready, laughing and enjoying the little moment before day began.
There were hugs, plenty of smiles, a few photos, and time spent with the people who have been closest to her.
Pearls were passed around the room, robes were on and even the dogs wanted in on the celebration.
Nearby, the rings were carefully placed in a small velvet box beside her grandmother’s invitation suite. For a while, there was nothing else to do but get ready and enjoy the moment.
And down the hall, Hunter had his own way of getting ready.
No nerves. No rushing.
Just him and the groomsmen gathered around the pool table, playing cards with their jackets waiting nearby.
Two rooms. Two different ways of getting ready. One big day is about to begin.
Then it was time.
Megan’s father turned around and saw his daughter. Before either of them could say a word, he pulled her into a hug.
The azaleas were blooming behind them, and the afternoon light was shining on the log-and-stone buildings. But they didn’t notice.
For a moment, it was just a father and his daughter, enjoying being together.
By the time the ceremony started, the afternoon light was shining through the trees. A waterfall flowed over the rock behind the altar.
Megan’s father walked her down the stone aisle. When they reached the end, he gently lifted her cathedral veil into place and then let her walk the last few steps on her own.
Hunter took both of Megan’s hands. The waterfall continued flowing behind them as they said their vows.
When the officiant pronounced them married, they didn’t wait for the applause. They were already wrapped in each other’s arms.
As they walked back down the aisle, Hunter picked Megan up and spun her around.
Their wedding party cheered from the chairs on both sides.
Cocktail hour took place on the covered patio. There were two signature drinks, a small bar, and time for the wedding party to take a few more photos before sunset.
Then everyone moved inside for dinner. The room had a high wood ceiling, round tables, and ring-shaped candle chandeliers. Soft blue cards matched the bridesmaids’ dresses.
The bridal party came through the doors for the grand entrance, with everyone cheering and hands in the air. The celebration didn’t slow down after that.
There were toasts, dancing and a live band that kept people on the dance floor most of the night. Then came the cake – white and blue, decorated with garden roses and delphinium cascading down one side. Megan and Hunter fed each other between laughs, making a little bit of a mess along the way.
When it was time to leave, guests lined up on both sides with sparklers already lit.
Megan and Hunter walked through the crowd holding hands, laughing all the way. Megan held her bouquet up as they made their way out.
